Two women were arrested for drunk driving and possession of drugs in Wendy Street, Selcourt, on Thursday.

Springs police and an official from the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department arrested the pair at 12.50pm.

Springs police spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora says the SAPS received a report of a motorist in a silver Hyundai driving erratically.

The 33-year old female driver of the vehicle was arrested for drunk driving, and her passenger (48) was arrested for possession of drugs.

Narcotics with a street value of R200 were found in the woman’s possession.

Ramphora says the driver’s blood level tested higher than the legal limit of 0.05g.

Barries Barnard from Hi5 Kids Recovery Unit accompanied the police and EMPD to the scene due to pending child welfare cases against the 33-year-old.

Both women remain in the Springs police cells and will appear in court soon.
