Accident leaves four people injured

Four people were injured in an accident at the intersection of Cowles Street and Connaught Avenue, in Rowhill today.

Two Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department officials Louis Els and Louwtjie du Toit arrived on the scene at 8am, and found Netcare 911 paramedics and other services already treating the injured passengers.

Two vehicles were involved in the accident – one car hit a tree, while the other ended up in a ditch on the side of the road.

It is believed the two had swerved to avoid an accident.

Netcare 911 spokesman Santi Steinmann says the paramedics found four people who sustained injuries ranging from moderate to serious, and treated them on the scene.

All four injured patients were transported to a nearby hospital for further medical care.

Els says traffic was slightly affected as a result of the accident and they assisted with traffic control.
