Extra security at Vinnige Voetjies

Security measures have been intensified at a local crèche in Springs, thanks to the donation of a camera system.

Vinnige Voetjies Kleuterskool received the system, valued at R8 000, from an East Rand-based security company and Afriforum on April 17.

Gert Parsons from Afriforum and Gerrit van Heerden, general manager of the security company, handed over the system to Ina Enrico, deputy principal of the crèche.

Parsons said that this was an excellent initiative and he was extremely thankful to the security company for their help and generosity, as the safety of children is of great importance.

Teachers and children gathered to listen to a talk on safety by the Springs SAPS Social Crime Prevention Unit.

Van Heerden also gave an enlightening talk on what children can do to make their own lives safer.

“When it comes to the important things in security, there are few things as important to us as the safety of children,” says Philip Allebone, also from the company.

He states that the donation to the school was made for the benefit of the children and to keep them safe.

Amanda Greybe and Yolande Cathill from the Social Crime Prevention Unit had the children laughing with their safety talk.

“Many thanks to everyone who helped out, especially the Springs SAPS station commander, Lieut Col Thembeka Gwebushe, who made the officers available at such short notice,” says Allebone.

“This is an awesome school and the children are well worth every effort to keep them safe.”
