Man dies after being shot 11 times in Everest

A 27-year-old man died en route to hospital last Thursday, after being shot 11 times.

The incident took place in Everest at 4.30pm.

The community claim the man was walking down Enstra Road, when three unknown men started shooting at him.

Springs police spokesman Amanda Greybe says after the suspects fired the first shot, the man fell to the ground.

Payneville community members reported to police that the suspects then walked up to the man and fired 10 more shots.

It is believed the three suspects were looking for the man’s girlfriend.

When the SAPS arrived on the scene, they found the man lying in the street with bullet wounds to his back and head.

Greybe says the man was still alive when paramedics arrived.

The victim was treated on the scene and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, but died en route.

A case of murder has opened.

Greybe requests the assistance of the community and anyone with information can contact them on 011 365 5700/19/20.
