The security guards in guard huts at a business in Industry Road, New Era exchanged fire with alleged suspects during an attempted armed robbery today (April 21).
At 2.15pm, four suspects allegedly followed an empty truck on its way to the business to buy stock.
The driver of the truck allegedly claimed he noticed a white Mercedes following him.
When he parked the truck in Industry Road, the robbers approached him and demanded cash.
The armed security guards in the guard huts noticed the attempted robbery.
It is not sure how many suspects were armed, but the guards believe the suspects fired two shots at them.
The guards fired back at the suspects causing the suspects to jump in their vehicle and drive off.
They fled the scene empty handed.
No one was hurt.
Springs police spokesman Amanda Greybe was not available for comment at the time.
