FERH patient gets new hairstyle

A treat for a patient in need.

Suzie McNab* was spoiled when she had her hair cut and styled while being a patient at the Far East Rand Hospital (FERH) last Tuesday.

Third year hairdressing student Juan-Pierre ‘JP’ Hoffmann decided to give her a total new look to boost her spirits.

Head of the social work department at FERH Jacobé Botha, organised to make Suzie feel special.

She said Suzie is a diabetic and due to health complications her right leg recently had to be amputated.

Jacobé and her staff are trying to boost her low self esteem.

After loosing a limb she was abandoned by her family, which contributed to the current state she is in.

Previously Suzie didn’t want to leave the ward or get off her bed, but with the new hairstyle she is more motivated.

She feels she is able to leave the ward without being ashamed.

Jacobé said they would like to make a difference in one patient’s life to motivate them.
