Street lights burning 24/7 in some areas of Springs
With electricity being a problem in the country, and load shedding implemented as a measure to attempt to control electricity usage, the nation is advised to use electricity sparingly.
This being said, the street lights in Hertzog Road, Hills Road and Wit Road are constantly burning throughout the day and night.
Deolinda Carneiro, a retired teacher and resident of Selection Park, says the street lights have been burning 24/7 since February 9.
“I’ve reported it to the municipality on February 16 and they only sent me a SMS with a reference number but nothing has been done about the situation,” she says.
She says that since the power went off on February 8 and came back on again, the lights have been burning constantly.
The Addie sent enquiries to Ekurhuleni and despite phoning multiple times, has not received any comment yet.
