Man jumps from Avenues’ roof
A man jumped off the roof of the Avenues early this afternoon.
Security guards from the Avenues gave chase after the man allegedly attempted to steal a cellphone.
The would-be robber misjudged the distance from the roof to the ground and, according to an eye witness, flew off the building’s roof and landed in Eighth Street in the Springs CBD with a massive ‘thud’ sound.
A member from Dersley CPF was present and also witnessed the incident and immediately detained the man with the help of the Avenues’ security.
The man seemed to be unconscious at first, but then stood up.
He sustained a broken arm and has a large bump on his head.
When questioned by the CPF, he could not remember jumping from the roof or why he jumped.
The ambulance and police were called out to the scene.
