34-year-old man arrested for possession of drugs

Drugs were stored in a shoe box inside a cupboard.

A 34-year-old man was arrested in Springs today (Wednesday) for possession and dealing in drugs with a street value of R1.5-million.

Members of the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department’s (EMPD) Tracing Unit acted on a tip off received from concerned residents who suspected that the man was involved in shady business in Pollak Park.

Spokesman for the EMPD Wilfred Kgasago says the residents’ concerns were confirmed when the suspect was found with Cat in rock form.

They found a shoe box full of Cat in a cupboard.

“Eight tennis ball size plastic bags containing the drugs were confiscated,” says Kgasago.

The suspect was charged with possession and dealing in illicit substances at Springs Police Station.

Spokesman for the Springs police, Captain Johannes Ramphora, confirms the arrest and says the man remains in the Springs police cells.

He is expected to appear in the Springs Magistrate’s Court soon.

Ramphora says it is a job well done and the second big drug bust and arrest this year.
