Five ways how to keep yourself busy during load shedding

Life don't have to stop when there are no lights.

Load shedding is becoming a norm in our lives, but these power outages can become more than simply frustrating because you are left sitting in the dark.

Everything we use, such as the refrigerator, stops running and starts to defrost.

With all the restrictions of computers and TVs off, there are several things you can do to bond with your family again.

Here are some suggestions of things to do while the lights are off:

  • Don’t go to bed early, but spend some bonding time with the family – sit down and talk to each other or play card games or board games.
  •  A braai will also be a good way to bond with the family.
  •  When there is enough light read a book to pass the time.
  •  Keep a battery powered radio available to listen to the news or monitor local news and emergency developments.
  •  During the day, take a walk in a nearby park or do some gardening.
