On Friday a business was robbed in the N17 Informal Settlement.
The owner of the shop and his brother were approached by two suspects pretending to buy cigarettes.
Both suspects were armed, one with a firearm and one with a knife.
One suspect pointed a gun at the two victims and ordered them to lie down.
Spokesman for the Springs police Captain Johannes Ramphora says one of the victims was cut on is right hand by one of the suspects and the other victim was assaulted with the gun.
They took cash, airtime and cigarettes and ran away.
The two victims started screaming for help and the community intervened.
Ramphora says the community arrested one suspect and found one round of ammunition on him.
The man was taken to the Springs police cells and will appear in court soon.
The other suspect ran away.
