It recently came to the Addie’s attention that a pair of tekkies hanging from an electrical cable might have gang, drug or satanic links.
The old pair of tekkies can be seen in Seventh Street North, Springs central business district.
It is believed gangs or drug dealers hang tekkies over an overhead electric cable to cordon off their territory.
Another claim is that the black tekkies might have a satanic connection.
The Addie contacted an occult specialist Hennie de Jager who visited the scene.
De Jager, who has his doctorate in occult-related counselling, has been a specialist in the field since 1993.
He says the allegation that the tekkies might have a satanic connection is just what it is, an allegation.
He claims if the tekkies were new it would have been gang or drug related as these people only use new tekkies and sometimes different colours.
De Jager says if they cordon off a section for drug dealing or gang related reasons there will always be some kind of graffiti in the close vicinity, but he couldn’t find any.
Since he found no telling graffiti and the tekkies are not new, it seems that in this incident there may be smoke but no fire.
