A 17-year-old arrested on eight charges

He is currently held at a place of safety.

The 17-year-old teenager was arrested on Friday January 16 on eight charges.

The charges against him are that of murder, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, house break-in, more than one armed robbery, robbery and common robbery.

Spokesman for the Springs police Captain Johannes Ramphora says the teenager was 15 years old at the time of his first arrest.

“Although he was a juvenile at the time he seems to have a habit of committing crimes.”

During his last arrest in 2014 he  was never charged for the armed robbery, but released into his parent’s care.

Ramphora says he committed common robbery in January and will appear in court Monday January 19.
