Ten gifts not to give for Christmas

On Boxing Day we chatted to the people of Kwatsaduza about the top 10 gifts they do not want for Christmas.

Some of the Kwatsaduza people give an idea of gifts they don’t want:

  •  Sandile Dlamini says “I do not want perfume as a gift for Christmas.”
  •  Tumelo Nkgadi: “I do not want a recycled present.” He says if you have a gift that was given to you, do not give it to him as he says the chances are that he will also give it back to you the next Christmas.
  •  Rebecca Ndlela says she does not buy her children noisy toys as Christmas gifts. “Christamas is the day families gather in large groups and often in not very large houses so giving your child a noisy toy might spoil the day,”
  •  Joseph Makhaphela says he does not want a bunch of flowers as a gift.
  •  Lucia Mthembu says she does not want a happy Christmas or Happy New Year wishing card as a gift.
  •  Themba Gumede says he does not want a very expensive personal gift such as jewellery costing more than R1 000.
  •  Olivia Radebe: “I do not want a chocolate as a Christmas gift.”
  •  Innocent Mokoena: He does not want socks and handkerchiefs as Christmas gifts because he believes these are the items that someone needs to buy for himself.
  •  Thabile Mapholoba says if one thinks of buying her a gift, then, it must not be a book.
  •  Prudence Ngwenya says she does not want anything to eat as a gift, rather buy her something that will always be there to remind her of a special day that she received the present.
