New year job – 5 key things.New job in the new year?

A lot of young people will be overwhelmed by their new job or even first time jobs this coming new year.

Many companies are facing the challenge of making new employees adjust in the workplace.

Manager of Business Linkage, Fred Jones, says employees should not be overwhelmed by their new jobs.

“Here are five key tips that can be used by people starting a new job this coming new year,” he says.

1. Have a positive attitude and let your enthusiasm, for being part of the team and the organisation, show to everyone you interact with.

Smile even if you do not have to, it gives your colleagues the impression that you are delighted for any challenge.

Having a positive attitude also means even if other colleagues feel challenged, you can share your expertise with them.

Your positive attitude will determine your altitude one day in the company or even in the industry.

2. Always leave non-work problems at home.

The minute you bring your personal issues to work colleagues tend to associate that with your weaknesses at work .

Rather communicate your personal issues with your employer and let him or her know it is confidential.

To avoid being undermined and underestimated by your fellow employees, leave your tears at home.

3. Dress professionally and blend in with co-workers and dress how you want people to perceive you because it plays a huge role in how you are initially treated.

You do not have to wear the fanciest suit in the office and end up in clothing debt, but always look presentable.

Dress in a sense that you do not feel uncomfortable at all whether you are with clients or colleagues.

You do not have to wear the latest trends, as some employees are pushed to in some companies, but wear your father’s or mother’s sweater to work.

4. Show your team spirit to solve problems and get the job done and loyalty to your co-workers and focus more.

This means being reliable in-between tasks.

Do not disappoint your fellow colleagues by handing in tasks late, making the whole team look bad.

Always manage your time on every job task.

5. Be on time, come in early and stay a little later.

This purely means being punctual at work and should you run late, be able to call in and inform your fellow employees.

This is to show your commitment in the company that you are a reliable asset in the company when it comes to punctuality.
