Ever wondered what to do with bored children (and spouses) when you choose to stay at home for the holiday?
Here are some tips:
- go on a picnic at Murray Park and or if you want to stay at home, in your own garden.
- Do some bird watching in the bird hides at Blesbokspruit.
- Go fishing in the several dams around Springs.
- Play board or card games.
- Make a kite and try it out in the wind.
- Dress up in old clothes and take photos to preserve the memory.
- Help someone less fortunate or visit an elderly person.
- Try tasting of food while blindfolded.
- Play ten-pin bowling on your veranda or driveway, using a tennis ball and old detergent or milk bottles, filled with water.
- Play games such as a minute to win it, with simple tasks to complete in a minute.
- If the family is big enough, play cricket or soccer in the back yard.
- Swimming is always a favourite during summer – either at home, at friends or at the municipal swimming pool.
- Make your own pizzas or hamburgers.
- Take a walk in your neighbourhood.
- Watch some DVDs with family and friends.
- Do stargazing on a clear night.
- Plant seedlings and care for the little sprouting plants.
- Take the family to the library before they close on December 24 and encourage each one to read a book.
