Stationery needed for school

With January only a month away, parents of Grade Ones and Grade Eights need to buy stationery from scratch.

The Addie visited several stores selling stationery to assist parents in their budget for next year’s purchases.

Bernard Jean-Pierre, manager of a local supermarket, says they will pack out the new stationery stock between Christmas and New Year.

“Stationery will be available after the shelves have been cleared of the Christmas stock,” he adds.

Grade One parents will have to budget for the new year as it will cost them about R507.74 per child for stationery.

Parents with children attending high school for the first time will have to pay considerably more.

A Grade Eight student needs to take stationery to the value of about R798.84 to school.

Some of the high schools prefer the pupils to bring tablets to load E-Books and notes.

The price of a tablet averages at about R2 500.

This can easily add up to about R3 298.48 per child.

The Addie found, during its investigation, that parents need to shop around as prices vary.
