Morné de Bruin walks to work every day from Casseldale towards the central business district.
Between 4am and 5am, it is still dark and the area is not safe.
Morné says it is not just about him walking in the dark, but about accidents that often occur there.
Motorists drive in the dark causing accidents.
Themba Gadebe, metro spokesman, says the cables inside the poles in that area were cut.
What Morné can’t understand is if the metro was aware that the cables were cut, why didn’t they try to secure the cables inside the pole.
According to Gadebe all the poles were attended to and repaired by the end of last week.
