Springs has a new senior magistrate

Springs Court has a new Acting Senior Magistrate.

Seodi (Salang) Mosaka (55) was born and bred in Rustenburg and received her qualifications at the University of North West (Mahikeng).

She has a B Juris Bachelors degree in Law and a Masters of Law degree for which she studied seven years.

She first started out as a prosecutor in 1986 at Itsoseng Magistrate’s Court and in 1998 she was employed as Head of Court at Koster Magistrate’s Court.

Mosaka was then transferred to Lichtenburg Magistrate’s Court in 1999.

In 2001, she was an Additional Magistrate at Germiston Magistrate’s Court and in 2008 to 2010 she acted as Regional Court Magistrate.

February 2013 to March 2014, she acted as Senior Magistrate, still at Germiston court.

Mosaka was then deployed to Kempton Park court from April to September as acting Senior Magistrate.

And finally to Springs court where she has now been acting as Senior Magistrate from October 1.

“I had two choices when I had to decide on my career path,” says Mosaka, “it was between becoming a geologist or a lawyer.”

She says the first option didn’t look so appealing to her, so she opted to go for a lawyer.

“I have never regretted my decision to become a lawyer.”

Mosaka says she is aspiring to become a judge of the High Court one day.
