Dirty Second Avenue toilet will now be cleaner

This is the only public toilet people can go to in that part of the Springs Central Business District.

“We will now try cleaning the toilet in Second Avenue twice a week.”

This says Llewellyn Scheepers of the Geduld-based company that sponsors this public toilet’s clean-up, as well as the area around it.

The Addie met Scheepers and his workers at this toilet where the stench was horrific, as people not only used the toilet itself, but the corners to relieve themselves.

The building has no roof or doors, as it was stolen off years ago.

Scheepers says one of his workers is cleaning the toilet once a week, but it seems not to be enough.

He decided that the cleaners will clean it now twice a week to see if this will better the conditions of the place.

He feels because this was the only public toilet people can go to in that part of the Springs Central Business District, that it cannot be demolished.

Scheepers says the ideal situation is that someone takes charge of the toilet by cleaning it on a daily basis and ask a nominal fee for people wishing to use it.
