Six people arrested for possession of stolen clothes

Springs police officials were patrolling the streets in the central business district this yesterday (November 25).

They saw six people walking with big suspicious looking foil wrapped parcels.

Captain Johannes Ramphora, spokesman for the Springs police, says the policeman asked the five men and one woman to open the parcels.

It was discovered that the clothes were stolen from a local clothing store.

Ramphora says the clothes were still tagged with electronic tags and price tags.

It is alleged they enter clothing stores with big bags and put the marked clothing into the bags.

Someone in the group then wraps the bag with foil so that the electronic tag does not trigger the security sensors when leaving the store.

They were arrested on the scene for possession of suspected stolen property and taken to the Springs police cells.

They will appear in court soon.
