Goosey Fernandes and his workers started with this job last week.
He says building of the pumphouse will start as soon as the bricks arrive.
His workers is placing rocks on the sides of the pond to prevent make stabilise the sides.
They have placed sleepers here and there to give the geese and ducks easy access to the area where they are going to extend the lawn.
The Selpark Dam Committee is impressed with the way Fernandes and his workers contributed to the project.
Residents were not sure if the project were stopped.
Themba Gadebe, spokesman for the metro, says the project was never stopped.
They just wanted to verify whether the (EIA) process had been activated before proceeding.
“The project was cleared and everyone was informed accordingly,” he says.
Anita Greeff, general manager of the Eastern Gauteng Chamber of Commerce and Industry, says they the air has been cleared as far as the environmental impact assessment is concerned and the work can not continue.
The committee received a report by Lillian Makwaka, from the metro’s environmental resource management department last week.
The report states “please note the proposed activity does not legally require environmental authorisation (Environmental Impact Assessment study).”
Through all of this Fernandes’ team worked everyday to contribute to this worthy cause.
