Benedict Saul ‘Benni’ McCarthy, legendary Bafana Bafana and overseas soccer player celebrated his 37th birthday on November 12.
He was born and grew up in Hanover Park in the Cape Flats and, thanks to his soccer talent, became an international star.
Benni played for Bafana Bafana in 1997 and holds the record for the most international goals scored by a South African.
After this he has played for several overseas clubs like Seven Stars, Ajax, Celta Vigo, Porto, Blackburn and West Ham United.
Benni retired from soccer in 2013 and got married to Bafana legend Benni McCarthy wed his Scottish fiancée, model Stacey Munro, in the UK earlier this year.
