Springs resident sentenced to 13 years in prison

Sentence was handed down to Johan Prinsloo (50) in the Free State High Court today.

He was sentenced to 13 years imprisonment for high treason and conspiracy to commit terrorist acts.

He was acquitted of the second charge of possession of illegal firearms and ammunition.

Prinsloo and three others were arrested on December 6, 2012, due to an alleged plan to attack representatives at an ANC congress.

One of the accused, Mark Trollop, entered into a plea agreement with the state while charges against another accused were dropped.

The third accused Martin Kevey, was unfit to stand trial.

Judge Mojalef Rampai sentenced Prinsloo who will spend the next 13 years in prison.
