Card fraud on the increase

Card fraud is on the increase in Springs, Kwatsaduza and Daveyton.

The Springs police received five complaints on card fraud on Sunday only.

Captain Johannes Ramphora, spokesman for the Springs police, says it is believed the fraudsters target their victims the most on Sundays.

Areas where the fraud took place recently is Kwatsaduza and Springsgate Shopping Centre.

Ramphora’s advice is not to allow anybody close to you when drawing money at an ATM.

He says, there are people who hang around at ATMs waiting for someone to fall pray to their scam.

Having your ATM card stolen can cost you a lot of money.

To protect yourself from falling victim, follow these simple tips:

Ramphora says never send money or give any banking details to anyone you do not know and don’t trust.

Any suspicious looking person should be reported to the nearest police station.
