Court in Session

These cases were heard in the Springs Magistrate's Court.

  • Joseph Mnoka Nmoruka (35) from Springs appeared in court on a charge of possession of drugs.

He pleaded guilty and was found guilty on September 16.

He was sentenced to three months imprisonment or a fine of R1 000 and a further nine months imprisonment, suspended for five years.

On July 15 the accused was arrested for being in possession of three sachets of dagga.

The officer who presided over the matter was Joshua Mashao and the prosecutor was Bheki Mbatha.

  • Tshepo Mathabetho (24) from Brakpan appeared in court on a charge of theft.

He pleaded guilty and was found guilty on September 14.

He was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment, suspended for five years.

On May 30 Mathabetho stole body lotion to the value of R149,98.

He has no previous convictions or pending cases.

  • Chris Eze (34), originally from Nigeria, appeared in court for not having the correct documentation to be in South Africa.

The accused pleaded guilty and was found guilty on September 15.

He was sentenced to three months imprisonment or a fine of R3 000.

The officer who presided over the matter was Mati Ngubeni and the prosecutor was Lymon Mbazima.

The following case was heard in the Springs District Court.

  • Jabu Patrick Mashaba (30) from KwaThema appeared in court on a charge of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.

He pleaded guilty and was found guilty on September 15.

He was sentenced to five years imprisonment.

The accused stabbed a person with a knife.

He has no previous convictions or pending cases.

The officer who presided over the matter was Mati Ngubeni and the prosecutor was Leane Hattingh.
