Attention to all lovers of pink material

Following the article in the Addie of the cancer awareness organisation, Pink Trees for Pauline, it was reported that people are stealing the pink fabric wrapped around the trees in Springs.

“We ask the community to please be vigilant,” says Suné Meadon from the Pink Trees organisation.

Suné says they don’t know whether children or people who adore pink, take the material.

She also says the main reason for these wrapped trees is to raise awareness for cancer and to inspire those who need the inspiration.”What was meant for a good cause, has become prey for criminals.”

They have received many complaints from community members who want to support them in the campaign, but whose material has been stolen.

In Dal Fouché, three bows, that have been noted thus far, have been stolen from trees.

“My mother’s material, bows, pins and boards on the tree have been stolen twice now,” says Suné.

They also thank the people who are supporting them, but ask them not to write on the material they wrap around their trees.

Members of the community can put a board or sign underneath the pink material if they want something to be written about with the wrapped tree.

“If you really love the pink to such an extent as to take it from someone, we will provide it to you for a small amount of R20,” says Suné.

“We ask the people responsible to please stop removing the material,” she added.
