Robberies take place in central business district

Separate incidents of robbery were reported during the weekend.

Two separate incidents of robbery were reported during the weekend of August 8 and 9.

There was also a robbery at gunpoint on Friday evening at 8pm in First Street in the Central Business District.

Cpt Johannes Ramphora, spokesman of Springs SAPS says a City to City bus driver was robbed of cash when he helped one of his passengers get on the bus.

Three men approached him – one held him at gunpoint, the other one held him by his shirt and the other one took the money from where the driver kept it in the bus.

The men ran away after the money was taken.

Ramphora says all three men are still at large.

The other robbery took place in in Fourth Street in the central business district.

Ramphora says a man was talking on his cell phone, at 2pm on Saturday afternoon, while he waited for a robot.

A passer-by grabbed the phone through an open car window and ran away with it.
