Drugs made girl (16) run away

Her parents were allegedly abusing dagga and heroine.

A mother and father, who were allegedly abusing dagga and heroine are the apparent reason a 16-year-old Springs girl has run away from home.

The girl was apparently found by a man wandering the streets of Edelweiss over the weekend.

This man is known to the Addie, but was not available for comment.

According to the Beeld edition of August 7 the girl’s family, that has two younger girls of 11 and 13 years and a boy of 7, previously had to flee from drug lords.

They apparently left their house with all their belongings after the girl ran away.

Although this girl, at this stage is in a house of safety, the Addie could not track down her current location and what organisation is handling her case.

Sanet van Moerkerken of Child Welfare Springs says they they know nothing about this girl.

She says members of a community policing forum contacted her over the weekend, but because the case was outside their area of jurisdiction, she referred them to the Christelike Maatskaplike Raad (CMR),

The CMR in Springs referred the Addie to their director, Nicolette Myburg, who is at this stage not available for comment.

While we have been unable to verify all the facts in this case, we continue to investigate and will keep you posted as our investigation progresses.
