Springs SPCA gets cleaned up

On Saturday a few members of the community arrived at the Springs SPCA to assist the staff members with their clean-up campaign.

Children were seen raking leaves into heaps and throwing them into black bags.

Jody Yong, the driving force behind this campaign, says it is only the start of projects such as this one.

The first community day was held recently where walls at the SPCA were painted blue and white, gardening was done and the area around the reservoir was cleaned.

Jody says on the second community day they pruned the trees and took about three loads of branches to a landfill site.

“Saturday was the third community day and we are trying to pull more people in to show them what the SPCA is about.”

A donation of dog and cat food was given to Debbie Miller, SPCA fundraiser, by Burt Jonker, a local businessman.

Debbie is grateful for all the help from the community and donations from businesses.

She adds with Jody’s clean-up projects, the place will look new again in no time.
