Metro educates on procurement

Ekurhuleni Metro will hold two roadshows at the Springs Civic Centre.

Ekurhuleni Metro’s finance department invites its service providers to a roadshow on procurement services.

This will take place from 10am to 1pm on August 4 and 5 in the main hall of Springs Civic Centre.

Themba Gadebe, the metro’s spokesman says the roadshow is for all current, as well as prospective service providers, because the municipality is transforming its accounts administration processes.

“The meetings are aimed at clarifying the municipality’s procurement processes and also explaining changes that have been implemented in recent months, to increase compliance with legislation and improve the way we manage our service providers’ accounts.”

Gadebe says one of the changes to be implemented is a move from payment on date of invoice to payment on the date of statement.

“This will give the municipality enough time to reconcile accounts of service providers as well as to collect outstanding invoices from various departments and central procuring offices,” he concluded.
