SAPS supports 67 minutes toward Mandela Day

Epilepsy residents work together with the SAPS

“SAPS supports 67 minutes towards Mandela Day,” this is what the slogan reads on the back of the staff’s T-shirts from SAPS.

The South African Police Service helped out at the Epilepsy SA centre in Springs for Mandela Day.

They have been supporting this cause every year for about six to seven years.

The residents of Epilepsy SA work hard every day to receive any small earnings for themselves.

This is where the SAPS helped out on Friday, packing papers in boxes or planting spinach to boost their production for the day, usually spending more than the allotted ’67 minutes’.

Now to explain, all these residents suffer from epilepsy and, as previously stated, work every day doing small jobs that isn’t too complicated due to their circumstances.

Some of these jobs include the weighing and packing of papers into boxes, planting vegetables, pasting stickers onto caps and many more.

These jobs are supplied by companies supporting their cause, so the companies ship their products over to them and they do the job.

These residents are very serious about their job and do it well.

The SAPS also do regular demonstrations for these residents with the K9-unit.

These dogs provide immense joy to the residents of Epilepsy SA, which make it all worthwhile for the SAPS.

Anyone who feels that they can and want to help these residents with any sort of small donation, feel free to contact Saney Muller on 011 816 2040.
