Correctional Services celebrate Mandela Day
Giving food, clothes and toys to the children of Lindelani township
On Mandela Day, the Department of Correctional Services staff treated the children of Ria’s Educare Centre.
Situated in Modder East, these children come from a disadvantaged background.
The Department of Correctional Services of the Modderbee management area, cooked soup for the occasion and gave the children of Lindelani
township food parcels, clothes and toys.
They also painted the outside walls and there was fun and laughter all around.
The children sang beautiful songs for the crowd and also thanked the correctional services staff in a well-rehearsed song.
There are 47 girls and 63 boys attending this centre, all ranging in ages from as young as six months old all the way through to six years.
Ria’s Educare Centre’s slogan is, “Teach the child, teach the world.”
