The Blue Children Charity fundraiser held on Saturday, July 5 in Edelweiss, was a success.

The organiser of the fundraiser, Jessica Barber, said that the evening was a success even though there were not as many people as she would have hoped, but that awareness was raised for the organisation nevertheless.

The theme of the event was country western, as parents and kids alike dressed up as cowboys and cowgirls.

There were many fun things for the children to do while their parents supported the cause. Dylan Coleman showed off his bull-riding skills on a mechanical bull set up at the event for people to enjoy.

The Blue Children Charity is a non-profit charity, helping children who were abused, abandoned and orphaned.

This was the second fundraiser held for the charity. The charity was started in November 2013.

There are two homes for the children, one in Struisbult called Potters Haven and another in Benoni, named the Colin House.

The charity helps with the education of children and provides them with stationery, clothes and medical assistance.

Each child has their own virtual parent who, at the end of every month, buys them clothes and other necessities.
