Free computer classes for young ones

This was to observe World Refugee Day

In celebrating the recent World Refugee Day, the organisation, Prisoners of Hope Christian News (PHCNNews), based in Springs CBD, gave free computer classes to children and young people under 18 years.

Being run by Shingirai Tashayawedu (founder), Isabel Mhlanga (communication coordinator), Nyarie Tashayawedu (project coordinator), George Magagula (facilitator) and volunteer trainers, this organisation trains and develops young people.

At this stage they mainly focus on juveniles in Boksburg Prison and refugee children in the Springs community by providing training in basic computer literacy.

“We believe that transforming lives through education can help break the cycle of crime and poverty. And our objective is to support, uplift and add value to different local young people through providing various kinds of practical, social services.”

Tashayawedu said, due to the response and enthusiasm of the young people, they intend to do this free training almost every month. “We made this programme free because we know that by investing in the lives of these young people we are making the world a better place with educated leaders.”
