Young photographers’ works are showcased

The works can be viewed until August 30 Springs Gallery

The works of 12 young photographers were celebrated on Saturday when an exhibition of their works opened in Springs Art Gallery.

The 12 completed a two-year photography course presented by the Ekurhuleni Metro in Duduza.

The works can be viewed until August 30 during working hours at the gallery.

Ranging from mine dumps, drunk people, portraits of people and white-faced street dancers, this is a collection of photographs emanating out of the worlds of these residents of Kwatsaduza.

Gary van den Heever, who also held a workshop for the photographers on Saturday morning said at the opening these photographers had incredible opportunities for photographs.

He urged them to continue taking photographs and to market themselves in any way possible.

Sipiwe Ditshego, chairman of Ekurhuleni Metro’s Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture oversight committee also inspired the photographers, saying each had to take charge and control their own future.

She said each had to take one step to discover his talent and start living it.

She urged families to support and encourage young people in their quest for a better life.
