Pedestrians should be on the look out

The community should be on the look out for this car

Pedestrians are currently the target of two men driving in a grey VW Polo.

Captain Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesman, says they target pedestrians who are walking alone.

Last week a student was on his way home in Selection Park when the car stopped next to him.

Ramphora says one occupant jumped out of the car, pointed a firearm at the man robbing him of his cellphone.

He took the celphone, got into the car and they drove away.

Another incident took place last Friday in the CBD, when the same vehicle stopped next to a schoolgirl on her way home.

“One man jumped out again, pointing a gun at the girl and robbed her of her cellphone, but this time he took her money as well,” says Ramphora.

He adds it is becoming a problem in the area, and people should rather not walk alone, but should also be vigilant.

Anyone with information can contact the Springs police on 011 365 5700/19.
