76-year-old man beaten to death

An alleged argument ended in murder

The body of a 76-year-old was found buried in an open field between the N17 and Daggafontein.

A man and his 17-year-old son lived with the deceased and after an argument the man allegedly killed the victim.

Captain Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesman, says the victim sustained multiple head injuries.

After allegedly killing the senior citizen, the man loaded the body into a vehicle and drove to the open field not far from where they lived in Daggafontein.

“It is here where he dumped the body into a shallow grave, covered it with a blanket, soil and leaves,” says Ramphora.

The man took his son to his mother and drove off without saying where he was going.

Ramphora says the 17-year-old told his mother what had happened and she took him to the Springs Police Station to report the incident.

“We called the Gauteng K9 Search and Rescue Unit to assist us in finding the body,” he adds.

Within 10 minutes the body was found.

Police forensic department removed the body.

The police seek the help of the community in finding the man to assist them in their investigating.
