Assist police with visible house numbers

Visible house numbers will make it possible for the police to find the house quicker during an emergency

The Springs police and police sectors ask the community to assist them by placing their house numbers where they are clearly visible from the street.

Police sector vehicles are presently experiencing problems finding addresses when reacting to emergencies or complaints as numbers of many houses are not displayed or visible from the street.

Furthermore numbers in the area do not always follow in sequence, which makes reaction to emergencies or complaints difficult and sometimes impossible.

Captain Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesman, says the emergency services, including the police, will be able to find the house much easier in case of emergencies.

Another concern for the police is to gather information on all the senior citizens

Ramphora says in order to deliver a better service the police need to know where all the seniors reside.

They need information of all senior citizens and pensioners in the area, to assist them with information, in reacting faster to a complaint.

He adds the recent crime stats indicate criminals target senior citizens staying alone.

These forms are also available at the Springs Police Station.

The third concern to the police is the possibility that domestic workers, gardeners or gardening services can leak information on the layout of the house or the daily routine to criminals.

Ramphora says it is important to know the people working for you and to have all their personal details, including a copy of their ID.

This information is vital and may help in solving cases.

A questionnaire needs to be completed which will be treated confidentially and will only be used to deliver a better service to the community.
