Fully loaded truck hijacked

Men posing as EMPD officials hijack truck

A truck was hijacked in Wit Road on Friday.

The driver of the truck left Element Six and when he stopped at the traffic light he noticed an unmarked white VW Golf GTi with blue lights on the roof.

Two men wearing EMPD officials’ uniform and one in civilian clothes approached the truck.

Ramphora says they asked the driver what load he was taking and where to.

When the driver explained he did not know what load it was, they asked for his driver’s licence and informed him the load was illegal.

The hijackers pretended to do an arrest and said they would escort him to the Springs Police Station.

The hijacker in civilian clothes jumped into the truck and ordered the driver to get into the Golf with his two colleagues.

They tied up his hands with cable ties.

Ramphora says they drove towards the N17 Hospital and then to Modder Bee Prison, where they stopped.

One of the men in the car cut the victim loose and ordered him to walk away without his truck.

The truck, a white Fuso, was hijacked by the three men.

No arrests have been made and the police ask for the assistance of the community to help them solve this case.

Anyone with information can contact the Springs police on 011 365 5700/19.
