Stuart and Marie Thorpe McStay, known as McStay celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Friday.
They were married in the NG Kerk in Strubenvale on May 9, 1964.
After their honeymoon in South Africa returned to Kitwe, Zambia for four years where their two daughters, Brenda and Sharon, were born.
They returned to Springs in December 1968, where they set up home and have lived in the same house ever since.
They renewed their vows on their 40th anniversary in 2004 with a full ceremony and small reception and have again renewed their vows for their 50th anniversary during a church service at the Hervormde Kerk in Selcourt.
Stuart and Marie’s daughters say they attribute their parents’ long and happy marriage to the fact that their parents always support and consider each other, and always joke with each other.
