Interact Club holds youth seminar

This will take place at Springs Boys' High School

The Interact Club of Springs Boys’ High School (SBHS), supported by the Springs Rotary Club, will host a youth seminar on May 30.

The event will take place at the school’s pavilion, starting at 6pm.

The Interact Youth Seminar is a student-led initiative to create an evening of inspiration, motivation and sharing.

The evening will consist of a series of interesting speakers, some fun activities and good entertainment.

“We hope to give youngsters an insight into the business world, community work and people of Springs,” says Hazel Bonaretti, Rotarian and Interact Club liaison.

Many speakers will address the history and tradition of Springs and the school itself, and inspire the young people to have a fierce pride in their town, their schools and themselves.

Guest speakers include Dennis Watson, Lesley Ann Maxwell, Damian Lahoud from Rotaract Club of Benoni Lake, other Rotarians, representatives from local charities and churches and many of the young Interactors from SBHS.

Many local businesses will also have representatives speaking on the evening. The current Interact Club president Royce Coleman and Interact honorary member Phumelele Kubeka, will be MCs on the night.

The seminar is open to the public.

Hazel says they hope to attract young people from all of the schools on the East Rand, so that they can share their interests and talents and be inspired to make the most of themselves.

“However, we encourage all members of the public to come and share in the excitement and potential of the evening. After all, it takes a village to raise a child, and these learners, from Springs Boys’ and all schools, need our support.”

Tickets cost R65 for school learners and R80 for adults, the cost of the ticket includes dinner and refreshments will be on sale.

Group bookings are also available to schools at a reduced rate.

Tickets are available at the school.

Anyone who would like to be involved in the project in some way can contact Bonaretti at the school on 011 818 2175.
