Journalist tries to stop administration fraud

This might save 10 indebted people from being put under administration by an alleged fraudulent company

The revelations of an investigative journalist might save 10 indebted people from being put under administration by an alleged fraudulent company.

This civil case was served before magistrate Mandla Mthombeni in Tsakane Magistrate’s Court last Wednesday.

Advocate Schalk van der Sandt on behalf of Tony Beamish, private investigative reporter writing for Moneyweb, opposed the administration of the 10 people, while Advocate Michelle Neething on behalf of PI Debt Solutions and its owners Piet and Ilse Janse van Vuuren requested that the administrations go through.

Beamish, in several stories since 2013, uncovered allegations against Janse van Vuuren and PI Debt Soloutions.

The administration order applications, amongst others, apparently had false residential addresses, as well as a lot of irregularities in them.

Before Mtombeni postponed the case to today, he explained what will be happening during the course of the case to the 10 people whose administrations are in question.

He said van der Sandt believed that the applications for administration were based on fraudulent and incorrect information.

He said going under administration is when you cannot meet your debt and explained to the debtors the advantages and disadvantages about their names being put under the administration order.
