New management for retirement village

Springs Retirement Village (SRV) has been taken over by Methodist Homes for the Aged (MHA).

The company took over the retirement village as of March 1, said Chief Executive Officer Trevor Joseph.

According to Joseph, SRV had been under judicial management for a period of eight years.

“MHA settled the creditors and the order of judicial management was lifted by the courts in December 2013.

“The uncertainty of the past is now over and residents have the comfort and security of knowing that the long-term survival of the village is now secured,” says Joseph.

A full-time site manager, Theresa Fry has been appointed, and according to Joseph, she has already implemented noticeable changes and improvements.

“She is determined that SRV becomes the village of choice amongst retired persons living in Springs,” he says.

Joseph says that MHA has exciting plans to invest in the upgrading and expansion of on-site facilities.

“These projects should commence before the end of the year.”

According to Joseph, there are plans to upgrade the existing frail care and service centre, as well as to add additional accommodation on the vacant land.

There are currently 41 independent cottages within the village and the frail care facility is under supervision of trained nurses.

According to Joseph, funding will come from reserves that MHA has built up.

These reserves will be invested into bringing the village up to a high standard.

“There is much that has been neglected, and a programme will be embarked upon to achieve standards,” says Joseph. It is clear that MHA and Trevor Joseph are looking forward to another successful venture.
