Post Office strikers on the attack

The Springs Post Office was targeted by its strikers today (February 5).

At 10:30am this morning (Wednesday), a group of mail sorting centre employees arrived at The Avenues Post Office and started throwing stones at the windows.

The unprotected strike began on January 27.

A client, Bonisiwe Ndlovu (36) entered the post office for business and was about to leave when she was assaulted by the strikers.

“They grabbed my arm and twisted it to such an extend that it feels as if they broke it,” she said.

According to a Fidelity security guard Desmond Mathebula, she will be taken to a nearby hospital.

One of the guards on duty’s leg also got hurt by a stone being thrown at him and taken to a hospital in Benoni for treatment.

The group quickly dispursed when the police arrived.

According to Fidelity operational manager Collin Vaaltyn the guard is doing just fine.
