Two hijackings reported

Two hijackings have been reported on January 13.

The first incident took place at 7:15am in Moore Avenue, Selection Park.

According to Springs police spokesman Captain Johannes Ramphora a woman dropped off her grandchild at school and was about to leave when she was approached by two men.

“One man climbed into the passenger side and ordered her to get out of the car.

The hijackers drove off in her white VW Jetta.

* The second incident took place in First Avenue, Geduld at 8:15pm.

A man was on his way to drop of his friend when he saw an unknown car stopping in front of him.

Capt Ramphora says the man saw two men approaching him.

‘The one  was armed with a firearm and knocked on the window of the victim’s maroon BMW 530D, ordering the him and the passenger to get out of the vehicle,” says Capt Ramphora.

Both got out and was ordered by the hijackers to lie on the ground, while one was searching them.

The hijackers took the driver’s wallet, car keys and drove off in his vehicle, leaving the victim and his friend stranded.

  1. The woman in the VW Jetta is my mother, she was dropping off my niece at my aunts house because school was only starting on that Wednessday. She bravely fought off the one hijacker when he tried to shoot her, she kicked and punched him and despite the effort they got away in her car.
