No lifts in use at FERH

All seven of the lifts at Far East Rand Hospital (FERH) are currently out of order.

“We would like to inform the members of the public that we are presently faced with a challenge in respect of our lifts,” says FERH CEO Dr Lekopane Mogaladi.

“Six of the lifts are being replaced, but the seventh lift that we relied on, broke and is in the process of being fixed,” says Hendrik Buda FERH spokesman.

Five of the lifts are being replaced. Contractors recently started replacing two of the lifts and it will be signed off as completed on September 13.

Buda adds the other four lifts will be replaced and fully operational in due time.

The cooperation and patience of the public will be highly appreciated.

“We apologise for the inconvenience,” says Dr Mogaladi.

  1. Why is capital expenditure so quick and easy but maintenance contracts so difficult. Aaah, because middle manning a once off sweet deal for a ton of money is easy but milking a service contract is not as easy. Rather wait for it to totally break and then put out a tender for new ones.
