Senior kicked when he was down

A senior citizen was assaulted last Tuesday when two robbers attacked him.

It is alleged that two men, in a white Ford Fiesta, were driving around without their lights on in Hendrik Street, New State Areas, at 7pm and attacked the man.

According to Springs police spokesman Captain Johannes Ramphora, the man and his wife had just arrived home when they were approached by two armed robbers, who had gotten out of the Fiesta.

They told the man to lie down and one of the robbers started to kick him.

“The victim’s wife screamed and begged the robber to please stop hurting her husband,” says Capt Ramphora.

The hijackers got into the victim’s Nissan X-Trail and fled the scene before the New State Areas Community Police Sector Forum and the police arrived on the scene.

No shots have been fired.

No arrests have been made.

Anyone with information regarding the case can contact the Springs police on 011 365 5700/19/20 or Capt Ramphora on 079 694 6936.
