Mangaung two embark on hungerstike

Two of the four men facing charges of high treason and conspiracy to commit acts of terrorism, will embark on a hungerstrike starting on Monday (August 5).

Mark Trollip and Johan Prinsloo are the only two of the four accused who are currently in prison.

Martin Keevy is currently undergoing a 30-day evaluation at the Free State Psychiatric Complex for observation and  Boonzaaier was released on R80 000 bail in January.

According to the lead investigator, Francoise Laux, Trollip and Boonzaaier feel that the investigations are taking too long and they want things to he wrapped up as soon as possible.

The Free State Department of correctional Services’ spokesman Puleng Mokhoane confirmed that the department has received notice of their intention to go on a hunger strike and will monitor them closely.

A source close to the accused confirmed that they have prepared themselves very well for this hunger strike.

The four right-wingers will be back in court on August 23.
