Exciting Impala visit

The proudly Springs site visit to the Impala Refinery last Thursday was a fun and exciting event.

The Eastern Gauteng Chamber of Commerce (EGCC) and Industry invites representatives from several businesses and industries to these site visits.

At the visitors induction, Impala CEO Paul Finney briefly explained what the importance of safety and security is for them whereafter the visitors were divided into three groups to visit the different plants.

Each group was accompanied by a tour leader who explained exactly what each area’s functions are.

“Although safety was first priority, it was very exciting when the emergency alarm went off due to a chlorine spillage,” says Anita Greeff, EGCC administration manager.

After everyone gathered at an open area where it was safe and emergency personnel investigated the spillage, everyone returned to their posts and the tour continued.

Manager of Business Linkage Centre Fred Jones says the visit was worth every minute and Impala is definitely a feather in Springs’ cap.
